After hiking straight up the side of Mt Rinjani for seven straight hours, Josh and Rachel had about five hours sleep. We were awoken at two in the morning so that we could trek from the crater rim to the summit in time to see the sunrise. Our timing was slightly off. It takes an hour longer to reach the top than we were told, and the sunrose an hour earlier than we had expected. But the view from the top was amazing nonetheless.

At the top, it was also extremely cold. Rachel was so cold that she finally relented and wore one of Josh's Mexican Wrestling masks.

The same day, we endeavored to make it to the crater lake campsite. We were both very tired, slightly dehydrated and ready to be cozy in our sleeping bags. On the six hour trek down from the summit, we were confronted with a chilly mountain downpour, making the already hazardous conditions of the descent even more treacherous. But it was all fun!
