May 2, 2005:
The next day we walked 15Km to three separate villages. We encountered Red Zao people, Black Hmong people and zai people. Each group had their own distinct outfits ... and everyone wanted to sell us something. Mostly we walked up and down along the mountainside with amazing views of the rice paddies glistening in the sunlight. Special hillside flowers gleamed purple in the distance. Josh was particularly impressed by the mountain flowers. Oh and the soviet jeeps that we road around in. Supposedly the long trek was to be full of tourists, but we were the only ones I saw the whole time.

Akbar's tomb was quite peaceful and very pretty. It is made of white marble and red carved sandstone. It isn't on the super tourist route so I guess I was one of the few visitors in a while. But this is the sort of flexibility that I have with my own driver. I can stop whenever I like.

Above: A full view of Akbar's tomb. It was originally designed by Akbar himself, but the plans were altered considerably by his devout muslim son Jehangir.
